A woman who accused American rapper Jay-Z of s+xual a§§ault has withdrawn her allegations, saying she never met or spoke to the billionaire musician and that her claims against him were false.
In a 12 page declaration filed in Manhattan federal court, the woman stated, “Shawn Jay-Z Carter never r@ped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter. Mr. Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct toward me whatsoever.”
“There is no truth to any of my claims against Mr. Carter,” she added under penalty of perjury, acknowledging that her accusations caused Carter “immense p+in, s¥ffering, and d@mage.”
Her new lawyer, James Blair Newman Jr., said the woman maintains that she was a victim of s+xual a§§ault but was entirely mistaken in identifying Carter.
“Mr. Carter did not r@pe her, s+xually a§§ault her, engage in any inappropriate conduct towards her, and she has never met him. She sincerely and unconditionally apologizes to Mr. Carter and his family,” Newman said.
The declaration was filed alongside notice that Carter was voluntarily dismissing the woman as a defendant in his ongoing malicious-prosecution lawsuit against lawyer Tony Buzbee and his Texas based law firm.
The woman said her case began after she responded to a Facebook advert seeking people with s+xual-a§§ault claims against Sean Diddy Combs. She alleged that her initial lawsuit was filed without her knowledge and that she later began doubting her claims.
“In January 2025, I began to doubt my claims against Mr. Carter. I also began doubting that I ever went to a party with celebrities,” she wrote.
Buzbee said he had not seen the new declaration but claimed the woman had previously given the same account to multiple lawyers.
Carter had vehemently denied the allegations and accused Buzbee and his firm of attempting to pressure him into a financial settlement.

The woman who accused JAY-Z of sexually assaulting her at 13 has now fully recanted her allegations in a sworn court declaration.
Jane Doe says she has never met or spoken to JAY-Z and that there is “no truth” to her claims against him.
Her original story had already faced major credibility questions. She claimed a friend drove her roughly 5+ hours from Rochester to NYC for the 2000 VMAs, and that after the alleged assault, her father drove more than 5 hours to New York to pick her up from a gas station, then drove another 5+ hours back home. Her father later told NBC News he had no recollection of ever making that trip and said he believed he would remember something like that.
JAY-Z was also not named in Doe’s original October 2024 complaint. She initially accused Diddy and an unnamed “Celebrity A” while an unnamed “Celebrity B” watched.
Tony Buzbee later sent JAY-Z two private mediation demand letters involving separate alleged victims. JAY-Z refused to mediate and instead went public with claims of extortion and sued Buzbee. The second alleged victim never filed a lawsuit.
Doe’s lawsuit was then amended on December 8, 2024, publicly identifying JAY-Z as “Celebrity A”, one day before he attended the Mufasa premiere with his daughter Blue Ivy and wife Beyoncé.
Doe now also alleges that her original lawsuit against Diddy was filed without her knowledge or proper investigation, and says her attorneys later gave her $1,200 in cash while she was in Houston for her NBC interview.
Doe eventually dismissed her lawsuit with prejudice. JAY-Z later pursued a malicious prosecution case against her and her former attorneys.
Now, after her sworn recantation, JAY-Z has dropped Doe as a defendant. His case involving her former attorneys continues.
